My Sanity Saving Schedule

No matter who you are, your life has probably somehow been impacted by the effects of COVID-19. One of the biggest impacts our family has had from the coronavirus is our kids’ school being cancelled for at least two weeks. As a mom who is also a full-time business owner, this has definitely created challenges and I know I’m not alone. I know there are many other photographers or work from home mommas who are now homeschooling, maintaining their business and also maybe their dishes and sanity!

What I’ve found to be the most helpful solution for this temporary season has been a schedule. The kids are all used to a relaxed routine at home so they were surprised to find it wasn’t going to be a “free for all” right now. They may have said that “Mommy’s classroom” isn’t as fun as school but hey, you win some and you lose some! I am attaching our schedule at the bottom of this post, so feel free to snag it if you’d like!

I am used to having A LOT of free time or time with only one child, so I have plenty of time to work. Thankfully it’s not our super busy wedding season yet so I am able to get by with very limited hours during this time and it’s working for us (for now!). I currently have two set hours per day built in to focus just on business, and I can build in more time if I need to. It really helps to wear the kids out in the morning after breakfast so they are calm and focused for “school time”.

I think the most important thing right now is to practice patience to everyone around you, including yourself! Getting outside with the kids and moving our bodies makes us feel better. Scheduling time to read books and do puzzles has helped us feel more connected. When the kids look back on this time later in life I want them to remember the extra time we had together instead of fear and panic. It’s a temporary season and we will get through it.

I am sharing our schedule below in hopes that it will help bring some structure and calm to you as well! It’s important to make it work for your family, so rearrange your day to make it relevant to your needs. This crazy time will be over soon so hang in there!
